Pongwe Beach Hotel is situated on the beautiful tropical island of Zanzibar. Our Zanzibar hotel is situated on a picture perfect beach with white powdery sands, turquoise waters and shady palm trees – the perfect holiday destination!

We pride ourselves on running one of Zanzibar’s most relaxing hotels with a stress free environment in a stunning location. Our restaurant offers a variety of meals with fresh seafood and fish available daily; while still being small enough to cater for all dietary requirements. Our bar stocks local and imported drinks as well as making daily fresh juices and cocktails – perfect for enjoying next to the infinity pool.

We are on the beautiful, tropical island of Zanzibar, Tanzania.

We opened our Zanzibar hotel over 20 years ago and we are proud to have worked with the local Zanzibari community from then and till today. We still source most of our foodstuffs and building materials from the nearby villages.

Through working with the villagers we have developed a variety of excursions and trips throughout the island including snorkeling on our own house reef just offshore and visiting the spice plantations which made Zanzibar what it is today.

OUR ROOMS

With only 22 rooms, our plan was always to be a small and intimate Zanzibar beach hotel; which coupled with our amazing location on Pongwe beach allows us to offer a true getaway experience perfect for those seeking relaxation or looking for a romantic break.

All our Zanzibar hotel rooms have been built in a traditional Zanzibari style using a labour force from the nearby Pongwe village. The rooms have a coconut palm thatched roof (with the leaves sourced from our own Zanzibar beach), lime wash walls and hand-crafted wooden doors. Within the rooms themselves there is hand crafted furniture and a large en suite bathroom with Moroccan style walk in showers.

We have 4 room types which are spread across the property and which are suitable for different budgets; and some of which can be used as family rooms.

2 Bedroom Beach Front Suites

Perfect for families – our villa-style rooms are set amongst the palm trees on the beautiful Pongwe beach, our two-bedroom suite offers a huge 120 m2 of living space with an additional 80 m2 of terrace  with private plunge pool to take in the beautiful sea views.

Spacious and elegant, each of the 2 suites is fully air-conditioned. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, seating lounge area and walk in wardrobe as well as being fully en-suite. The 2nd bedroom has 2 large singles and with patio access and it’s own ensuite it is perfect for friends sharing also.

The outdoor area, offers a private 16m2 pool with panoramic ocean views, its own al fresco eating area  -perfect for lunch and beach beds, deck chairs and a hanging chair for however you wish to relax.
