Olkeri is the Maasai epithet for the Leopard, the spotted ambush hunter, one of the most emblematic inhabitants of the area. Home to great Elephant herds, this beautiful tract of wilderness, replete with views of woodlands, rocky hills, and shaded by gnarled old-growth Baobab and Acacia, offers the ultimate freedom to explore day and night.

Highlights

Hemmed between seasonal rocky river beds and overlooks a wooded valley, located near a water hole with access to a mud bath. The area hosts large wildlife populations, particularly elephants and Buffalo. Available activities include night game drives, walking, and fly-camping for a truly immersive safari experience and Maasai cultural interactions.

Mess Tent

The camp’s heart is the mess tent, the adjoining lounge tent and the outdoor fire pit. It is well-stocked, and a waiter is on call at any time to serve up a G&T or an ice-cold beer. Dining is generally individual but can be communal if friendships are kindled at the fireplace. Enjoy family style dining with an elegant table setup overlooking the water hole and mud bath, where diverse wildlife – ranging from elephants to lions – come to drink and bath throughout the day.

Tents/Rooms The camp is situated on flat ground, with good paths serving all tents. Tents have stairs leading into them. Please let us know if you have mobility issues, and we can allocate rooms close to the mess tent and have a ramp provided. A total of 8 Tented Suites with wooden floors and expansive verandahs overlook seasonal watercourses for privacy. Two interconnecting rooms constitute a family suite-all with en suite bathrooms with running water and flush toilets. Triples are available. All tents contain elegant decor and are well lit. Tent floors are laid with mats and carpets, and Tents are equipped with a radio and a flashlight. Multi Plugs are built into the tents and accept all international plugs types, as well as USB ports.

Experiences & Activities

The Randilen Wildlife management area offers an exciting selection of activities, such as night game drives, giving the adventurer a rare glimpse into the comings and goings of these creatures that live by starlight. You can also enjoy walking or fly-camping for a truly immersive safari experience, along with Maasai cultural interactions. On most evenings, we light the campfire at 1830hrs; you are welcome to join us around the fire. We offer a selection of drinks in the camp’s mess area, including soft drinks, coffee, tea, and a bar stocked with selected alcoholic beverages. Premium drinks are available at an extra charge.
