Manda Bay is a small privately owned boutique lodge located on the northern tip of Manda Island in the Lamu archipelago on Kenya’s coast.  An unspoilt, secluded location where you can switch off from the rest of the world, take your shoes off and enjoy simplistic beauty in palm thatched cottages and open living spaces.  Manda Bay combines the ultimate bush and beach experience with miles of soft white sand on a private beach and Coconut palms mixed with Doum palms, Acacia Tortilis and a variety of wildlife.

Manda Bay is the perfect escape for families, honeymooners, and couples looking for the ultimate ‘no shoes, no news’ experience and is renowned for its wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with a variety of activities on offer.

Accommodation

All the rooms are made with locally sourced materials – wood, palm woven matting floors and palm thatching.  the bedrooms Villas are simplistic with open air windows with neither shutters or glass. Every room has a oversized walk in mosquito net, overhead fans and ensuite bathrooms. Each room has a verandah with chairs and a swing bed.

Beachfront Rooms

There are 11 beachfront rooms which are situated right on the seawall and are therefore closest to the water and beach when it comes out at low tide. Large open rooms with 7ft beds either twin or Kingsize and room for one or 2 extra beds for children if required.  Room 11 is an extra-large villa able to accommodate 3 extra beds. There is a dressing table, information booklet, charging plugs ( 220volts – 3 pin),  hairdryer, drinking water, toiletries in the bathroom, 2 sets of towels per person, beach towels, basket for use whilst staying for shell collecting and beach combing, twin washbasins, W/C and walk-in shower.

Palm Rooms

There are 5 Palm rooms which are set slightly further back from the Seawall on higher ground behind the Beachfront rooms.  Room 7 is a family cottage with an extra room and bathroom able to accommodate upto 3 children.  The rooms are cool and airy with a sea breeze and are made up of 7ft beds either twin or Kingsize and room for one or 2 extra beds for children if required.  There is a dressing table, information booklet, charging plugs ( 220volts – 3 pin),  hairdryer, drinking water, toiletries in the bathroom, 2 sets of towels per person, beach towels, basket for use whilst staying for shell collecting and beach combing, twin washbasins, W/C and walk-in shower.

Garden Rooms

There are 6 Garden rooms. These smaller rooms, close together and are situated in the middle of the property.   They were originally designed for teenagers to make family travel more affordable but they have been very popular with many of our clients especially for fisherman who are out all day or families and couples who want a more affordable option.  They have standard sized twin/double Divan beds, information booklets, charging plugs ( 220-240 volts),  wardrobe, shower, W/C and wash stand. All toiletries, linens, drinking water, outside chairs and swing bed.
